Leyland Mini Moke 1980
Our 1980 Leyland Mini Moke was found in the Mantuan countryside. Guarded and well preserved, its mileage is only 45,000 km to its credit, a total re-painting and replacement of the hood was necessary for damage due to the weather. Totally original and complete with all its features, it is a pleasant and very reliable car, it is recognized as being of historical and collector interest by the Italian Historical Automotor Club (ASI).
It was born in 1968 as a request of the British army for a landed-by-parachute-vehicle directly on the battlefields, inspired by the famous Jeep used in the Second World War by the US army. It had no great success due to its limited height from the ground and the suspensions with little stroke unsuitable for uneven ground. It was updated for civilian use as a cheap and spartan means, monocoque chassis with a mechanical supporting structure and a motorization derived from the already tested Mini Morris MK1 850cc. Several updates and production lines that moved from England to Australia and also in Italy where it was marketed for 2 years by Cagiva.
